But Nana, Pappy, Aunt Brittany, and her friend Frances came for their visit this afternoon!

Today was a big day… you got to meet your Papa Dave, Uncle Brad, Uncle Lee, and Aunt Mel!

They were so excited to meet you!

Merry {first} Christmas!

 We had such a sweet first Christmas with you! 

The three of us spent the morning opening presents. 

You got a lot of wonderful things that you will be able to enjoy in a few months!

 This afternoon we got dressed up and headed to the Jacksons' house for a late lunch!

 You and Clifton are adorable!

 We probably should have taken a family picture before it got close to your eating time, but live and learn, right?

We've spent this evening just loving on you and enjoying our first Christmas as a family of three!

You are our favorite Christmas gift!

day 8- Christmas Eve

This morning we went to the nursing mothers' center for just a weight check and you were 7 lbs, 5 oz! Woo hoo!

You had your first bath at home today too! It was after a feeding and you did so great… until we were finished and you ended up spitting up quite a bit- we'll time it better next time!

(until we're up at midnight, 3AM, and 6AM!)

day 7: 1 week

Rah Rah headed home today :( 

I think her countdown was 80 hours until she'll be back after Christmas!

We are so thankful for her help over this past week… it would have been a whole lot harder without her!

We can't believe you're one week old today!

day 6

Last night was 1000x better with breastfeeding! Your Daddy, Rah Rah, and I were able to rest more than we have since we brought you home! I think we're on the upswing! 

We did a Christmas themed photo shoot this evening with you and you looked adorable!!

Can't wait to celebrate your first Christmas with you!

day 5

Baby girl, last night was still pretty rough! It was nice to know that you were getting something to eat through the syringe, but breastfeeding still wasn't ideal (and everything was taking close to 2 hours to get done). We decided to go again to see a lactation consultant at the hospital and Penelope was super helpful! You weighed in at 7 lbs, 0.5 oz- heading in the right direction! We have a new plan and I think that your Daddy and I are much more at ease with it! Instead of syringe feeding, we're going to finger feed you the breast milk. Penelope also showed me how to use a nipple shield and I think that will help you latch on better. And she said to only try to get you to breastfeed for like 15 minutes (not 30+ like we were doing) and then move on. Unlike syringe feeding, the finger feeding will help stimulate your suck reflex (which is mega strong). Rah Rah is going to stay until Monday now and your Daddy and I are so grateful!

I can tell that this position is going to be your Daddy's happy place!

 And mine!

This afternoon's feedings have gone very well and I hope we have a much better night!
