Sadie: Where's Daddy?

Me: Hmmm, I think he went to the gym.

Sadie (laughing): Noooo, Papa Dave at gym.

In the car, on the way to dinner
Sadie: Twinkle, twinkle little star, how I wonder... Time for your check-up!

We can't get very far away from Doc McStuffins!

Sadie (noticing a hole in the toe of my sock): Hey, you have a hole in you sock. Just like Papa Dave!
-Apparently Papa Dave and I need new socks-

Sadie (randomly, several times): Where's Beth? I pull her pants down. I pull her red shorts down.
-This almost did happen in Tennessee a couple of weeks ago. Sadie was jealous that Beth was holding Eloise and grabbed onto Beth's leg and almost got her shorts-

Sadie (randomly, several times): I got milkshake. Strawberry. Clifton had chocolate. He pulled his straw out. I was in Miss Carolyn's car.
-Carolyn took the kids to Sonic for milkshakes when we went to Tyler a few weeks ago-

The random details that Sadie remembers, even after weeks have gone by, are so funny to me!

Me (to Eloise, after she had just nursed): Are you happy now?
Sadie: No.
Me (to Sadie): Are you happy?
Sadie: No.
Me: Are you sad?
Sadie: No.
Me: Are you mad?
Sadie: No.
Me: Well then what are you?
Sadie: I'm a girl.

6:12 AM, Sadie wakes up and while still in her bed:

"Chick-fil-a. Chick-fil-a. Go to Chick-fil-a."

It's hard to explain to a two-year-old that Chick-fil-a is literally closed on Sundays.

Tonight while lying in bed:

Me: "What did you like best about today? What was your favorite thing you did today?"
Sadie: "I played. I ate yogurt. Sadie a butterfly, Clifin (Clifton) a donkey, Miss Carolyn a cow, Mommy an elephant."
Me: "Was Claire there?" (wherever "there" was... a dream, maybe?)
Sadie: "Claire is Belle."

This morning I told Sadie we were going to church (Bible study) today and she said, "go to Walmart." I asked her what she needed at Walmart and she replied, "milk, turkey, cheez-its."

Today at lunch:

Sadie (after finishing her bowl of macaroni and cheese): More mac?
Me: There is no more mac; you ate it all. Is there something else you would like to eat?
Sadie: A hamburger.

I was getting a coffee cup out of the dishwasher and Sadie said, "coffee cup." Then I asked her who drank coffee and she said, "Beth."

Sadie was drinking out of a cup with baseballs on it and said, "baseball." I asked her who likes baseball and she said, "Lee."

I love that she is associating things with people in our family!

Tonight after reading books before bedtime, I was talking to Sadie about the baby sister in my belly.
Sadie: "Baby's eyes."
Me: "Maybe she'll have blue eyes like you. Do you think her hair will look like yours? What color is your hair?"
Sadie: "White."
Me: "What about a nose?"
Sadie: "Yeah."
Me: "What about a mouth?"
Sadie: "Yeah."
Me: "What will the baby do with her mouth?"
Sadie: "Cries."

At least her expectations are realistic!
