Sadie talks 2

I was getting a coffee cup out of the dishwasher and Sadie said, "coffee cup." Then I asked her who drank coffee and she said, "Beth."

Sadie was drinking out of a cup with baseballs on it and said, "baseball." I asked her who likes baseball and she said, "Lee."

I love that she is associating things with people in our family!

snow days

Friday afternoon (after it snowed and iced all day long) we went out to see what the neighborhood looked like. Sadie much preferred pulling the sled rather than riding in it. I don't think she liked the snow/ice falling in her face. Thankfully the conference that Brad was supposed to speak at in Asheville on Friday was cancelled, so he was home with us for a long weekend!
When we walked back to the house, the snow had stopped falling, so we had fun making snowballs!
Saturday morning we went out and Brad and Sadie loved sledding on the hill across from our house!
Yesterday afternoon was definitely chillier than in the morning, so we weren't out for very long.
We went out for a little while this morning, but it was really icy and so it wasn't much fun for any of us. Sadie did take a ride in the sled to the pond, which was much safer than walking!

Lunch with Sue Sue

Yesterday I received a Facebook message from Susan Thrasher. She's in town with a friend whose husband is at Duke Hospital. We were able to get together for lunch at the Q Shack.
We had a great visit with Sue Sue. She and Sadie loved meeting each other!

Sadie talks 1

Tonight after reading books before bedtime, I was talking to Sadie about the baby sister in my belly.
Sadie: "Baby's eyes."
Me: "Maybe she'll have blue eyes like you. Do you think her hair will look like yours? What color is your hair?"
Sadie: "White."
Me: "What about a nose?"
Sadie: "Yeah."
Me: "What about a mouth?"
Sadie: "Yeah."
Me: "What will the baby do with her mouth?"
Sadie: "Cries."

At least her expectations are realistic!

It's a girl!

Let's go back a few months and catch up on what's been happening.
On September 12 I took a home pregnancy test and it turned positive after the 3 minutes time window. The next day, it turned positive more quickly. That was the week before we went to Maine.
I had my first OB appointment on Oct. 8 (7 weeks pregnant). Everything looked good and I had a bedside ultrasound. I could see the heart beating, but did get to hear it. My second OB appointment was on Nov. 5 (11 weeks) and baby's heart rate was in the 160s.
Thankfully the week we were in Maine, I felt great, but when we came back, I started feeling pretty bad. Especially in the mornings, I felt like I just wouldn't be able to keep anything down. I never actually got physically sick, but just felt yucky for about a month. (Of course the one time I actually dry heaved a couple of times was the morning Sadie and I were flying alone to Tennessee. Thankfully it past quickly and we were able to fly with no problems.)
Nov. 16 was a big appointment. Brad went with me and we met with a genetic counselor and had the NT scan. Baby looked great and the ultrasound lasted about 30 minutes, so we got to see her moving around for a while! We opted to do the Verify test for genetic disorders.
A couple of days before Thanksgiving, the results came back negative for Trisomy 18, 13, 21, and any sex chromosome abnormalities! Praise the Lord!
And we found out we're having another perfect baby GIRL
On Thanksgiving we FaceTimed with Nana, Pops, Aunt Brittany, and Aunt Beth, and Rah Rah, Papa Dave, Uncle Lee, Uncle Brad, Aunt Mel, and Uncle Brad's girlfriend Farina and told everyone that Sadie's having a LITTLE SISTER! What a happy Thanksgiving!
My next appointment was on Dec. 3 (15 weeks) and baby girl's heart rate was 154.
On Jan. 5, I had another appointment (20 weeks). It took the doctor a few minutes to find her heart beat, so I was pretty tearful, but it seemed she was just moving around a lot and he finally found it! Her heart rate was 158.
Today Brad, Sadie, and I went for the anatomy scan. It lasted about 45 minutes and Sadie did pretty well watching. The tech was really nice and gave Sadie some stickers for doing so well.
And baby girl looked great!
Over the past couple of weeks, I have definitely felt her move. I think I was probably feeling her move for about 2 weeks before that (early December), but at the time, I couldn't be for sure.
Can't believe I'm halfway through this pregnancy! It is flying by!
We can't wait to meet this little girl!
