nineteen months old

We have been busy this past month! This age is so much fun! We can't believe how much you are learning every day! We have had lots of fun- story time and music makers at the library, pool time and swim lessons, play time in the backyard, playing at parks, playgrounds, and museums! Busy, I tell you- makes for some good nap times too! :)

The funniest story from this past month happened on June 27. You were taking your evening bath and your Daddy and I were both in the bathroom with you. I looked in the tub and noticed that you had pooped. Your Daddy (who was sitting on the edge of the tub) turned around and noticed several pieces of poop. At that moment, you decided to turn around and see what we were looking at. You FREAKED OUT!!! You literally jumped out of the tub into your Daddy's arms and it took you a good minute+ to calm down and stop crying. I was laughing so hard, I had to put my head down on the back of the toilet, so that my laughing wouldn't make you cry harder. We have never seen you freak out like that before! The next day you found a little green tree frog in your water table and you were still more scared of your poop!
You fell asleep at lunch again. You play hard and sleep hard!
We went to Pullen Park on July 7 with Miss Carolyn and Clifton. We rode the train and the carousel, had a picnic, and got Locopops!
On July 8 we met Miss Carolyn and Clifton, Miss Anna and Kathryn, and Miss Jessica and William at the Museum of Life and Science. You had a blast playing with your friends!
I had packed a lunch for us, so we stayed after the others left and had our picnic lunch.
And then we went back to the mist area and you LOVED running around!
You, Clifton, and Kathryn had your second swim lesson on July 9. We had originally decided on 3 lessons, but after that day, we decided that you guys had gotten as much as you can for your age.
All of your canines have popped through now. The ones on the right side (upper and lower) are more prominent than the left ones. You love trying to put your clothes on! You usually end up with both legs in the same side of your shorts and it looks like you're wearing a mini skirt. You also love covering yourself up with a blanket and pretending to be "Ghost Sadie." You walk around with your arms out straight and laugh whenever you find your Daddy or me!

Your most common words: no, more, ball, car, bow, baby, blueberries, cracker, hi, bye, milk (which sounds like "gulk"), bubbles, please ("peas"), more, neck, toes, nose, bear, shoes, socks, hat, apple, book, down, out, towel, pillow, cheese, and balloon, neck, backpack, hot, and Elmo (you've never seen Elmo on TV, but you recognize him on your diapers and because we have a Tickle Me Elmo doll). Your vocabulary seems to be growing by the day!
You can say and identify: Mama, Dada, Rah Rah, Nana, Papa, Pops, Aunt Mel, and Clifton (sounds like "Caga")
You can identify these parts of your body: toes, knee, bottom, belly, bellybutton, fingers, elbow, chest, neck, shoulders, chin, cheek, mouth, teeth, tongue, nose, ears, eyes, hair, and head.
Animal sounds you make: sheep, horse, owl, cat, turkey, cow, dog, and duck (duck and dog ("pup") are the only animals you identify by their names instead of just by the sound it makes; you call a sheep a "baa")

Mommy's birthday

Today is my 29th birthday! And what a fun day it has been!
You and I met Miss Carolyn and Clifton at Chipotle for lunch and then we went to REI, Buy Buy Baby, and Walmart. When we got home, I drove to the mailbox while I was talking on the phone to Rah Rah. I pulled into the parking spot across from our townhome, so that I could back into my parking spot, looked to my right, and noticed a white SUV with a baseball sticker in the back window. HMMMMMM looked familiar! I was still talking to Rah Rah on the phone, but was pretty distracted and all of a sudden, she walked around the corner from our backyard! She is the queen of surprise visits! What a fun treat for my birthday!

This afternoon, Miss Carolyn, Clifton, and Big Kyle came over for a swim, hamburgers, and brownies a la mode!
Daddy built a little fort for you and Clifton! Y'all loved it!
What a great start to my final year in my 20s!

Happy 4th of July!

Today was such a fun day in celebration of America's birthday and the freedoms we can appreciate as citizens of this great country!
This morning, Miss Carolyn and Clifton came over for a swim (Big Kyle had to work).
After your nap, we headed over to the Jackson's house for a cook-out!
Big Kyle grilled beer-can chicken and it was delicious!
We thought about going to a community event after dinner, but ended up just hanging out at the Jackson's house and that was a great decision! We had more fun playing ball, running around, blowing bubbles, and lighting sparklers!
Clifton was "kissing" your hand

the Williams visit Durham

This afternoon Justin and Melissa Williams and their kiddos Mason (4.5), Hayley (3), and Chase (14 months) stopped by for a visit on their way to the Outer Banks! It rained most of the day, but there was a little break this evening, so we ran over to the pool for a swim.
You loved playing with all three of your friends!
It was a quick visit, but we're so glad they were able to stop by for a little while!

first swim lesson

Today you, Clifton, and Kathryn had your first swim lesson! We met Supriya, your teacher, at Kathryn's neighborhood pool. You guys all did great and it was fun to learn some new ways to help you guys learn to love the water!

We stayed to swim for about an hour after the lesson and then we all went to Chick-fil-a for lunch.
I know you three will be little water babies!
